Shattered, but Not Swept Away: Building a Strong Foundation to Weather the Storms with Special Needs Parenting and Life’s Unexpected Trials | Led by: Joy Straub

When life’s storms shatter what feels secure, the strength of our foundation determines whether we simply repair or must rebuild. Drawing from Jesus’ teaching and her own family’s journey raising two autistic sons, Joy shares how God’s firm foundation can sustain a home through unexpected hardship and lead to redemptive redesign rather than collapse. This workshop offers biblical encouragement and practical hope for parents and grandparents navigating special needs, diagnoses, or unchosen circumstances. Rooted in deep faith, pastoral ministry, and decades of educational leadership, Joy invites you to discover how God can transform broken pieces into something stronger and more beautiful than before.

Naming the Losses we Don't Talk About | Led by: Roslene Curtis

Many women carry unspoken losses that quietly shape their emotional and spiritual lives, from changing relationships and health challenges to shifts in identity or unmet expectations. Roslene Curtis of Renewal Counseling Centers creates a supportive space for women to slow down, reflect, and gently acknowledge these hidden forms of grief. Through teaching, guided reflection, and practical tools, participants learn how unspoken grief impacts them and discover a compassionate pathway toward healing. This workshop empowers women to feel more grounded, less alone, and clearer on how to care for themselves as they move forward.

Meet Ginger

District Women's Ministry Director

Born in Peru and immigrating to the United States at age 10, Ginger Murillo spent 20 years in Long Island, NY. At 28, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior through a life group invitation from her sister, which marked the beginning of her spiritual journey. Shortly after, she was baptized during a post- retreat organized by Nueva Vida Iglesia del Nazareno, where she later became president of the Youth Ministry. Ginger also served in various capacities, including delegate, worship team member, children's Sunday school teacher, and part of the visitation and finance teams.

In 2010, Ginger married JJ and moved to Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Southern Nazarene University. During this time, she served as a Spanish leader alongside JJ in the Youth Ministry at Western Oaks Church of the Nazarene, contributed to the worship team, and facilitated Spanish retreat workshops.

God called Ginger and JJ to plant a Spanish church in Kenner, Louisiana, where they established Koinonia Church in 2013. Starting with just three members, the church grew to 130 by 2019. Ginger focused on training and raising leaders using the "Master Plan" and organizing the church, while also being actively involved in discipleship and worship. In 2020, she received her first District License and is currently on the ordination track in the Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her work at Koinonia, Ginger supported Kenner First, an American church, before she and her family were called to serve in Riverside, CA. Today, she serves as the Worship Pastor and Spanish Ministry Pastor at Arlington Ave. Church of the Nazarene, where she continues to bring her passion for discipleship, worship, and leadership to the community. As the new District Women's Ministry Director for the SoCal District, Ginger is excited to extend her commitment to fostering spiritual growth and connection among women across the region, faithfully following God’s call in this next chapter of her ministry.
