Why Should You Go to Fresh Start?
Three main reasons…
First, we’re planning on hearing God speak through Rev. Ron Salsbury, pastor of New Life Community Church in Pismo Beach, CA since 1993. Having grown up in Pasadena, Ron is no stranger to the Southern California context. Moreover, Ron brings a fresh sense of creativity to the table while effectively teaching/preaching the Scriptures.
Second, we’re looking forward to a variety of workshops. We’ve worked hard to ensure that the topics covered touch multiple areas of the local church ministry. At Fresh Start this year you’ll find workshops addressing ministries to children, youth, senior adults, etc. Special workshops under the category of “Emerging Ideas/Ministries” offer opportunities to help keep our local churches aware of the creative edge that often precedes us. Assimilation, discipleship and cross-cultural ministries will also be featured. And for those seeking depth of insight regarding spiritual formation, Dr. Robert Smith, Dr. Janine Metcalf and Dr. Reuben Welch will be sharing. It will most assuredly be a time of education and positive formation.
Third, we’re excited at the chance to worship together as a district. We’re honored to have George Williamson, Director of Worship Ministries at Point Loma Nazarene University, lead us during these times. There’s nothing that strengthens a local church’s ministry more than the reminder that it is part of something much greater than itself and its immediate context. We come together to remind ourselves we are part of something infinite, God’s kingdom come.
